ppO₂Oxygen partial pressure
Oxygen partial pressure at selected depth.
The partial pressure of oxygen tells you how much oxygen your body is exposed to at depth. It is the number behind oxygen toxicity limits and CNS tracking.
How it works
ppO₂ = FO₂ × (depth ÷ 10 + 1)
- FO₂ oxygen fraction of the gas
- Depth limited to the depth where ppO₂ would reach 5 bar
Example
- Gas
- Air (21 % O₂)
- Depth
- 40 m (5 bar)
- ppO₂
- 0.21 × 5 = 1.05
How it works
ppO₂ = FO₂ × (depth ÷ 32.8 + 1)
- FO₂ oxygen fraction of the gas
- Depth limited to the depth where ppO₂ would reach 5 bar
Example
- Gas
- Air (21 % O₂)
- Depth
- 120 ft (4.66 bar)
- ppO₂
- 0.21 × 4.66 = 0.98
